Book Donations

We will be collecting books on Saturdays  from 9:30am -12:00 pm ONLY.   Please see below about what we currently are unable to accept.

It's time for us to collect all those books you have been holding onto! The Friends now have a beautiful new space to store our books, but unfortunately it is smaller than before.  Due to that, we need to be more stringent in what we collect.   Book donations will NOT be accepted at the library except on specific donations days.                                  

   The Friends are unable to accept: 

•  Books damaged by highlighter,  pen, or pencil marks                        

•  Books with an offensive odor, mildew, or stains 

• Books with torn covers or yellowed pages 

• Textbooks or encyclopedia sets 

• Cookbooks

• DVDs and Blu-ray DVDs VHS or phonograph records 

• Music CDs, Music or books on cassette tapes, or phonograph records 

• Audiobooks on CD or Magazines 

•  Toys

Books and Puzzles MUST have all pieces.

Staff is not available to assist by bringing donations into the building. Please do not use the  book drop return for donations. All items donated to the library are considered library property and cannot be returned. Due to space and storage limitations, we are unable to accept large donations of more than 5 boxes at a time. The FRIENDS of the New Milford Public Library is grateful for all gifts or bequests made to the FRIENDS in the form of money, securities, property or materials. The FRIENDS will encourage and accept gifts of materials with the understanding that gifts of materials will be used only if they meet the standards of materials in appropriate resell condition.. Gifts to the FRIENDS are considered outright and unrestricted donations to be used in the best interest of the New Milford Public Library. By donating materials, you are giving them freely  to the FRIENDS of the new Milford Library and without expectation of compensation.The FRIENDS do not provide evaluations of gifts for tax deduction or other purposes, but will provide the donor with a statement that they may fill out and submit for deductions.  If a  monetary donation is made for a specific purpose the FRIENDS will be sure to note it when giving to the library. Once donated, these items are no longer retrievable and will be used to support our mission and benefit the community.
